What is a music video?
A music video is a performance of a recorded popular song which is videotaped , it is accompanied by dancing and visual images interpreting the lyrics.
The production of a music video can be used to experiment with a different structure, style , camera angels and editing techniques that we are not familiar with seeing in conventional broadcast.

What is the purpose of a music video?
The are numerous purposes but it's main purpose is to promote the single , the album the single is from and the artist.
In order for a music to do so , the music video must :
- Sell the song in a way that can allow the audience to memorise the song from the video
- To provide the viewer with an understanding of the songs so they engage with it both visually and audibly - this is achieved through a performance or a'story telling'
- The viewer must be entertained by highlighting other talents from the artist besides singing , other talents may include dancing, playing a musical instrument or artistic images.
