So ever since we started filming we realized that our song is quieter compared to the music we hear today and when we borrowed the speakers for filming, something was not right. This meant that we found it difficult to hear the lyrics when we were filming but we thought theres nothing we can do about it because there's only one version on Vevo that we had already downloaded However our great helpful technician put the song on Garage Band and edited it for us!!!!
I love this song and i love the video even more, I don't know if its because i love Jhene Aiko or its because i love the lyrics, wither way the video has me hooked!
The reason i'm blogging about this video is because the shots that this video mostly has is shaky tracking and panning shots. Emphasis on shaky because none of us are professional recorders and filming with a fig rig for a music video is compulsory. Filming with a tripod is easy but a fig rig takes skill and when we watched back our clips, a lot of the footage was shaky and there's nothing we can do to fix that unless we go and re film in the same location with the same costume which is too much effort.
This video is in black and white which i like our video except the chorus because of the lights. There's bits in this video where the singers are singing against a white wall which i think is really effective and would work great in our video. I recommended it to my group but i will explain it to them properly when i see them tomorrow for filming. We have to record the second verse somewhere again because a group member didn't know their lyrics and that would result in so many jum cuts in one verse which we do want but maximum 5.
I also love the old grainy effect this video has and the synergy with the colors and the lyrics painted on the widows! Love it!
My reseach skills has improved alot since my AS year. For example now I am more organised, In my AS year I remember being very unorganised making it hard for me to conduct research on my practical work. Last year I never done a lot of independent research which would have actually been very useful, however when I actually did do research I would post it too late on blogger and therefore wouldn't get marked for it . This year I learnt a lot from my mistakes. I am more organised when it comes to researching and I feel quite happy with my research blogging. I also do a lot of independent research that would possibly benefit my practical work. I research a lot of music videos and see their style and the way they conduct the music video. For example I looked at little mix, The saturdays and sugababes music videos to get ideas for my video and at the end it was very useful because we applied certain parts for each of their music video in ours, however adding our own little twist to it.
I recently saw this music video posted on twitter so i thought I'd watch it because i also read a magazine article about the video. Its by Little Mix and its called 'Move'. In the article i read that Jade (one of the 4 ) said that the choreographers asked her to ;be more sexy' while dancing and Jade said that she didn't know how to be more sexy. This is because they are performing a dance with other dancers in the music video. This is kind of similar to our video as we also have a dance as thats what we found in girl pop videos however we only have a dance for the chorus which we plan to use for base track.
Little Mix also posted a video from their dance rehearsal that got us excited for the actual video.
After coming back from half term and a very busty week of filming, we looked through all our clips and sorted them out on our video drive. This is because we didn't have time to look through the clips when we borrowed the equipment so we waited until we got back to college. We labelled all the files with colours so we know where we filmed what and put a * next to the ones that we think are 'useable'
